THE AUSTRALIAN FOUL PLAY

May be Australia has won this match but It was a Black Sunday at the Sydney Cricket Grounds on 6/1/08 when the world watched a team's downfall not because of their poor performance but because of Foul play by both, the umpires and team Australia.Today was the 5th and the final day of the 2nd test match of the Border Gavaskar trophy played between India and Australia. This match was so crucial for Ricky ponting for two reasons ,a win here would:

1)Enable team Australia to equal their world record for 16 consecutive test wins.

2)Enable them to crush the spirits of Indian cricketers from thinking of a comeback
May be Ricky was so obsessed with winning this match that he and his team mates forgot about good cricket and resolved to fraudulent and cheeky techniques for clinching their 122 runs victory over team India. This was very evident From many instances on the field, let me list out:

1)Ponting attempts to take a diving catch at the silly point of dravid's bat,but ends up grounding the ball so obviously visible to everyone, but still goes on for an appeal.

2)Michael Clarke takes a catch at the slips of gangully's bats ,but misjudges it and ends up taking a catch just after the ball has pitched.May be it was hard for Clarke to know about this when he took the catch ,but what happened just after that was jaw opening. After taking the catch he rolls over ending up grounding the ball, which again is so evident ,but still,he and his team mates go for an appeal.

3)At this appeal, when umpire Mark Bensun(comments on this later) asks ponting as to whether the catch was taken, ponting confirms it by raising his index fingers to the umpire only to show the world how fraudulent Australians are.

4)Earlier in the match, this same Ricky stood rock solid on the grounds even after it was so obvious to him that he had nicked a ball on the leg side, but when the whole Indian team went on appealing,Ricky seldom made a move.

5)This was also the case with M.Clarke, when Dravid took a catch at the slips which not even remotely doubtful,Clarke stood waiting for the umpire's decision.

6)When Andrew Symonds was in his 30's he nicked a ball which was taken by keeper Dhoni, but still Symonds didn't make a move and he was not given out.Later he went on to make 162 .
On the whole,Australians didn't play a fair cricket. It was not the kind of cricket that was expected from the cricket fans all over the world..
I will be comin up with an post on Dubious umpiring soon

main reason for indians defeat is umpires decision.. dada n dravid wicket s waste thats clean not out macha..in the upcoming matches icci should change the umpires if it s not done india should return back home...have u seen that clarke out in kumble ball..avan oru manishane illa...totally sucks for playing poor cricket da...

There was this comment sometime back from a TV commentator, whose name fails me this moment. It was something like " Looks like the *insert team name here* team are playing against their eleven men against 13 in the opposition " .. Something similar happened today ..

Indians weren't pitted against the world champs alone, but again the two umpires on the field .. Even Bucky's decision might be excused considering that he had to make a split second decision, and he could've just made a mistake( though it looked so fcuking obvious ), but in the end all this happens, these umpires have delivered on so many other days, so maybe bucky just had a off day ..

But Mark Benson's decision was outrageous, he could've consulted the third umpire instead of confirming the decision with Ponting, at least after Ganguly stood his ground.

But i guess calling this a planned strike against the Indians, or Foul play by the Australian's isn't right.. It is just a matter of too many things happening together, to make everyone notice. I mean everyday there are decision like this, but on rare occasions like this a lot of them happen on one day, and it is suddenly termed a conspiracy.

Leave the umpires decisions ....That comes later,i guess it is really humble from my side to be calling this a simple "FOUL PLAY"....WTF was ponting, clarke ,symonds doin out there in the field even after knowing ur gone???i guess it is because you didn't watch the match ,that you are trying to be differently thinking, for those who saw ponting take his catch and appeal at silly point,it was infact silly....foe a player of his class,he should hang himself out of guilt at present.....

As for clarke,he is a motherfucker...bleady bastard took a one pitch catch, that too,iit wasn't taken correctly,he grounded it so clearly, but still that bastard went on for celebrating....

Assuie's should be called assie's hereafter

This incident makes certain that
corruption has not left cricket
too. Therefore , the decision of the umpire should be cross-checked in future at that moment and he
should be sent out immediately prohibiting him for repeated wrong decisions .The umpire should be not allowed to practise as umpire throught his carrer in any domestic or international cricket match.

If the umpire has doubt in his mind about dada's catch is taken cleanly or not he might have asked the 3rd umpire insted of asking to ponting...then why the hell u want the 3rd umpire and so much technology development da.. Mark Benson could have asked 3rd umpire..at first INDIA might have won the 2nd test comprehensively if the 3rd umpire would have watched the replay carefully gave the correct decision ..INDIA would have made the aussies all out to a meger total of 250 runs in the first innings and had a very good first innings lead...one or two umpiring wrong decision is acceptable but not like dravid's catch and dada's catch..even if ordinary man who just knows the rules of cricket would have given a better decision than this umpires...i think this umpires would have got money from aussies....the umpires must have to be chucked out from thier job for giving the horrible decision....atlast there is only one team playing with true sportsmanship.........

Thanks Thanks sunil, that was the exact kind of rage you got to show to a situation like this...
nicely written....kudos.....continue

However australia had won cosecutive 16th test match, tis time they looked BEATABLE but due to some wrong decessions they again made.... Actually they played a foul game because of the players in the team... SIMONDS the culprit, he should hav walked after his first dismissel but he didnt do that... u know after every dismissel they looking for umpires decession even it was clear(michel clarke was caught in slip THEN Y HE WAS WAITING FOR UMPIRE)it seeems some match fixing...wat am saying is every dismissel should b refer by TV umpire...THIS WILL REDUCE THE FOUL PLAYS.....

we can't quit the series if so then BCCI should compensate the losses faced by ICC...So it the right time to show our talent and we should level the series & we should win the ODI & T20

VJ said...

@venkatesh : Never mind it was a match fixing or not,as a sportsperson, you should play with good spirit(as said by kumble),when the sportivity is gone,it is not a sport any more..

@lokesh: yes ur right,we can't simply quit and come, thats what we have laid forward two demands and the latest news is that 1 of them was accepted by icc

BUCKNOR IS GONE

BUT BAJJI'S BAN IS STILL TER..

venkatesh said...

ya ofcourse they played with sprit, v cant say they didnt..... but there's no honesty in the field, tats the matter here.....its k wat u said is right "FOUL PLAY"

Dude, i find this post very offending, what you've written isn't true. And now you listen to me, better take this post off your blog, cos' according to blogging ethics you're not supposed to do this.

P.S: If you are wondering if it is really me Ricky Ponting Captain of the ACT, i can't really help you on this, you need to take my word for it. I found your blog through a link on this page.

So listen vijay (right?), i'll check back by tonight, and this post better be gone by then.

Regards.

BTW we're true sportsmen regardless of what you call us.
